Duties and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a postdoctoral research associate for DAASE, an EPSRC-funded programme grant, hosted in the Software Systems Engineering group at UCL, supervised by Dr. Earl Barr.

The successful candidate will apply information theory to software engineering problems and take responsibility for key components of the research, including the selection of research questions, development of new approaches, and preparation of papers for publication. Specifically, the focus is on the application of information theory to mining idioms from code and to automating debugging tasks.

The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive expertise in software engineering with a strong interest in the application area. We will expect you to be a self-motivated individual with the ability to take responsibility for key components of the research. You should also be comfortable working in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment. You should have (or about to be awarded) a PhD in a relevant area, research experience in program analysis and verification, strong programming skills, and publication track record in relevant, peer-reviewed venues.

Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (salary £30,922 - £32,607 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis (including corrections).
